In the Midget AE's 4th regular season game of the year they faced the St. Marys Rock.
The Rock came into town looking very sharp, well dressed, and wearing their OMHA Champions jackets which were earned last season.
This year's season has started out very differently for the Rock as coming into the game with Petrolia they found themselves with zero wins and 4 losses and at the bottom of the Shamrock league.
Petrolia coming off a 3-2 win last Sunday against a very quick Mt. Brydges squad. Petrolia had a full game effort to win over Mt. Brydges and would need more of the same vs the Rock.
Coach Bell told the team that a very good effort would be needed as the Rock had been losing their games but only by a goal and the Oilers did not have a practice this past week due to so many home games.
The Rock played a very solid checking style making it difficult to get much flow through the neutral zone. Petrolia was the quicker team but both teams were able to keep sustained pressure at time during the game. Petrolia did look rusty but managed a late goal before the end of the first period on a nice rush by Chris Docherty.
The second period had no scoring but some nice chances by both teams and some good penalty killing.
Petrolia played excellent position in the defensive zone throughout the game limiting St. Marys chances.
In the 3rd period Petrolia finished things off getting a goal, missing an empty net and handing St. Marys their 5th loss in as many games.
Good game guys. Dorchester Dragons come to town tomorrow night so let's bring our A game.
