Oil 4 - Dragons 1
In the second game in as many nights the Oil stepped on the ice to compete with a team within reach in the Shamrock League standings.

Dorchester came into the game with 9 points and the Oil had 8 points and a game at hand.

Petrolia came to play this night even though a bit of the flu bug is going through the team.

Petrolia controlled the 1st 5 minutes of the game and then took most of the next 5 minutes off as they spent that time in their own zone.  It was clear that the Oil were ready to outhit, out-skate and outplay the Dragons on this night and finally scored late in the 1st period with Chris Docherty scoring on a rebound off a very nice shot from Ia Wheatley off a pass from Jack Hackett.

The second period started and quickly Petrolia found itself with a 5 minute penalty to kill as Ian Wheatley was assessed a GM59 charging major.  This resulted in a game misconduct and a 2 game suspension.  Team manager is looking into if Ian will be able to play in the upcoming tournament.  The Dragons did manage to get the equalizer on a shot from the point that deflected off a leg and past goalie Joey Friesen.  The team did very well to keep the chances to a minimum during the 5 minutes and come out tied.

The Dragons started to run out of energy as the Oil kept the pace of the game fast.  Jaret Scarrow scored a fantastic goal after digging the puck out from behind the net, skating out from the corner, feeding a saucer pass to Conner Clark, who fed a nice pass to Ryan Bell, who found Jaret Scarrow screaming down the middle lane between the hash marks, and Jaret finished with snapping it home.

In the 3rd period Nick Friesen scored a top shelf goal after being sent in by Jack Hackett.  Ryan MacAlpine made 2 great setups to his wingers Nick Friesen and Curtis Jackson, but neither finished.  Dorchester pulled their goalie and with time running out Chris Docherty lofted a shot from Petrolia's end of the ice that found its way across the line with 0.2 seconds remaining on the clock.

From start to finish this was a very good game with excellent effort from the entire group.  Great work Oil.
The Oil now move into a 3 way tie for 6th with 10 points with St Marys and Ilderton.

The Oilers now have 4 practice ice times over the next 2 weeks to prepare for the Firebolt tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan where they will play 2 teams from Illinois and a team from Buffalo in their first 3 games of the 4 game guarantee tournament.

Congratulations again guys.  Go OIL Go!!!
