Oilers Post 8-1 Win at Silverstick
The Atom Rep Oilers continued their winning ways at the Alvinston Regional Atom Silverstick with a lopsided 8- victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers to improve to 2 wins and 0 losses for the tournament.
Many Oilers got on the game scoresheet this morning by scoring 4 goals in the first and following it up with 4 more in the second period to extend a lead. The third period was a sloppy and chippy affair and lacked the flow and energy that the first two periods had.
Scoring in the first Period for the Oilers were; Stanley MacDonald, Zach Wilson, Noel Sanderson, and Brady Melton. Scoring goals in the second period were; Zach Wilson, Noel Sanderson, William Hull and Jace McGrail.
Earning assists on the 8 Petrolia goals were; Liam Crummy, Noah Harse, Sanderson (2), McGrail (3), Hull, Melton, Reid King and Reed Douglas.
Noah Bright went the distance in the Oilers net and earned the "W". The goal that did get past him, was one that ping ponged off a few bodies and found its way to the back of the net.
Noel Sanderson was awarded the game MVP for his great game.
The Oilers once again played without sniper Andrew Jaques who is hoping to make a triumphant return soon.
The Oilers now face the powerhouse squad from Ingersoll at 5:40pm today in Alvinston. A Win would guarantee the top seed heading to the semi finals, a loss could mean a tiebreaker formula to decide 2, 3, 4th place seeds.
Good Luck Oilers.
