Oilers Paste The Predators in Forest
The Atom Oilers pasted the Lambton Shores Predators today by a score of 8-5. A hard fought , physical game throughout was dominated offensively by two stars, Oiler's Andrew Jaques who scored 6 goals and Predators' Dustin Harper who scored 3 and 1 assist.
The Predators opened the scoring 3 minutes in on a Harper deke. Jaques opened the scoring for the Oilers at 5:23 of the first period on an unassisted play as he broke in an deked a few Predators before scoring. Tied up 1-1. The Oilers then scored again a minute and half later when Jace McGrail spotted the Big "Z"- Zach Wilson out front and hit him with a backhanded pass and Wilson made no mistake and fired it home. Oiler up 2-1. The Preds tied it with a minute left in the first on another Harper goal. Tied 2-2 after one period of play.
The Oilers outscored the Preds in the second period 3-1 to open up a 5-3 lead. Jaques scored all three goals with assists from William Hull and Stanley MacDonald.
In the third, the Oiler outscored the Preds again 3 goals to 2 to take the game with a final score of 8-5. Scoring in the third was Andrew Jaques with two more unassisted goals and William Hull on a Big "Bobby Hull Special" from the point off the post and in for the 8th goal. Hull's Goal was assisted by Zach Wilson and Jace McGrail.
Kento Gudz was in net for the Oilers and made several key stops earning the win.
Great forechecking and backchecking and defensive zone coverage by all players today. A lot of good battles in all areas of the ice. This was the Preds first league loss of the season.
