OIlers Hang on To Defeat Rock 8-7
What started out as a comfortable lead for the Oilers turned into a nailbiter by the end as the Atom Oilers held on for a close 8-7 victory.
Suffering from some tired cross country legs, the Oilers played a sloppy second half and almost gave up their 6-2 lead only to have St Mary's come back and make things interesting at then end.
Andrew Jaques led the Oilers with a 6 Goal outburst and once again the puck seemd to follow him around the ice. Jaques score two in the first, two in the second and two in the third to help seal the victory. Zach Wilson assisted by Reid King and Jace McGrail unassisted on a shin-pad block turn breakaway....scored the other goals for the Oilers.
Kolby Wilson and Stanley MacDonald drew assists on Jaques's third goal.
Kento Gudz went the distance in net and earned the "W".
Next up is a game Saturday vs South Kent (Blenheim/Ridgetown combo) and a matinee performance in Lambton Shores on Turkey Sunday.
