Petrolia Drops Game 1 of Quarter Final 2-0
Once Again The Oilers Could Not solve the Mt. Brydges Cougars falling 2-0 in game 1 of the OMHA quarter finals.  Scoreless til the third period, Petrolia was holding their own despite not generating many scoring chances.

On a night when the Oilers needed big efforts from all players to pull out a win, we didn't get it.  The boys battled hard,  but fatigue set in and the Oilers started to sputter in the third.

Mt. Brydges scored 3 minutes into the third period to break the goose egg and it stayed 1-0 until the final minute when once again Petrolia was forced to call a time out and pull goalie Kento Gudz for the extra attacker.  The Oilers tried their best to get the puck to the Mt. Brydges net but could not capitalize and a clearing pass by Mt. Brydges ended up on #7 Matthew Rutledge's stick and he made no mistake hitting the empty net for his second goal of the game.

Kento Gudz was solid in goal and made several key saves for the Oilers.  The Oilers managed only 6 or 7 shots on the Mt. Brydges goalie and many were not very dangerous opportunities.

Noel Sanderson was selected for the Team Hard Hat for his tenacious forechecking and digging hard all night long.

Solid games by Phoenix Timmington, Kento Gudz, Brady Busby-McEachen and William Hull were also noted.

Keep bringing the effort every game, we are going to get a W one of these games.
