March 2,2014 -Petrolia 5 St. Thomas 4
Petrolia came out strong in the first period of the first game in the St. Thomas series. Dylan was moved up to forward on Chris and Evan's line, where he we proved he could not only defend the net but he could score as well. After 3 nicely played goals in the first period from Dylan, Chris and Dylan, Petrolia seemed like they could completely dominate the game.
Period two, Petrolia faced some challenges. The shining light was Matt. He stood on his head with the play moving down to our end for most of the period. After countless shots on the net, St. Thomas managed to put very few in, but enough to tie it up. Jacob did score a nice one, but by the end of the 2nd, St. Thomas had caught up, due in part to a 3-5 man advantage for 4 minutes of the period. We were now tied 4-4.
After a much needed break, Petrolia came back. Jacob got his second and the winning goal of the game to bring the score to 5-4. St. Thomas pulled their goalie at the end of the game but our boys managed to hold the advantage- squeaking to a win of 5-4.
