Langton Tournament - game #2 Langton Leafs
Game #2 posed the host team Langton vs the Petrolia Minor Midgets.
This would be an excellent contest as both teams were coming off losses earlier in the day and wanted the points available.
The 1st period saw some great goal tending at both ends as there was many scoring chances for both teams. Period #1 ended in a scoreless tie.
Period #2 Petrolia had shifts where they controlled the tempo and pressure but they also had shifts that goalie Matt Kuipers saved the bacon. The only goal of the period came on a power play for Langton.
The 3rd period started with the first half being dominated by the Leafs but then the Oilers started to come on in the closing stages. The Oil had many chances but just could not finish to even the score. With just under a minute remaining netminder Kuipers was pulled in an all out effort to tie the score. The Leafs scored an empty net goal with less than 1 second remaining.
Needless to say the Oilers were disappointed with the outcome and the complete game is still yet to come.
