Oilers Down Wallaceburg 6-1 in OMHA Playdowns
The Oilers notched their first win in OMHA Playdowns vs Wallaceburg, downing them 6-1 in Petrolia on Saturday.

The Oilers came out flying and passing the puck well and created a lot of scoring opportunities and open ice to skate with the puck and make plays.  The Oilers got the scoring started 3 minutes into the game when Reid King and Reed Douglas worked the breakout perfectly and found a streaking Phoenix Timmington who went in and buring a a hard wrister high over the glove hand.  Oilers Up 1-0.

Jace McGrail scored on a similar play as he broke up a Wallaceburg rush at the blueline and skated in alone and buried a  high wrister.  Oilers up 2-0 after first period of play.

In the second period, the Oilers kept skating and taking it to the Wallaceburg squad.  Brady Busby-McEachen  went on an end to end rush and slide a wrister along the ice which found the corner.  Oilers up 3-0.  McGrail scored his second of the game on a nice passing play with Miller Mailloux. Oilers up 4-0 after two periods.

In the third, McGrail completed his hattrick on a 2-0 rush and elected to shoot and got the lucky bounce off the chest of the goalie and into the net to make it 5-0.  The Wallaceburg team never quit and #20 Mason Jacobs shocked and surprised everyone in the building with a crazy- good slapper from inside the blueline which went high off Kento Gudz's glove hand and into the net..a powerful, high accurate drive that was worthy of applause by all in the building. First slapper in Novice we have seen leave the ice and travel that far. Kudosto Mason Jacobs...great shot.

Reed Douglas capped off the scoring and a great effort all game long by tucking home the puck off a centering pass from Reid King.  Final Score 6-1.

Great passing and great energy all game long boys.  Kento Gudz made some fine saves to earn the win in the Oilers net.

Reed Douglas earned the Team Helmet for his solid play and text book breakout pass that lead to the first goal.

All players are commended on the effort and teamwork displayed today.
