OILERS BATTLE LAMBETH TO FINAL SECONDS
The Oilers kicked off their OMHA PLayoff schedule with a trip down the 402 to Lambeth to square off against the Lancers.  Under a full moon and an 0-3 record thus far against Lambeth, the Oilers were looking to exact some revenge under the powers of the full moon.

The Oilers came out with intensity and great efforts and matched the Lambeth squad inch for inch , even carrying the play at times.  Kento Gudz, arguably played his best game of the season repeatedly knocking down high shots and snagging a few with his glove hand as well as controlling rebounds and covering pucks to keep Lambeth frustrated.

The Oilers battled hard, and fell behind 1-0 after one period then 2-0 part way through the second period.  The Oilers got on the board with goals from Jace McGrail and William Hull.  With the score tied at 2-2, the Oilers were looking to make a push and force the Lambeth team into unchartered territory--playing from behind vs Petrolia.  Unfortunately, a couple penalties and a couple broken plays that say Lambeth score a couple quick ones jumping out to a 4-2 lead.

The Oilers refused to quit and kept skating and working hard...with time winding down in the third period and the Oilers down 5-2 Logan Crummy was able to find the loose puck in the slot and put just enough mustard on the biscuit to slide it across the line to make it 5-3.  Down to the final minutes and Petrolia on the power play, a time out and a pulleed Kento Gudz on the bench for the extra attacker saw Jace McGrail slide one past the goalie to make it 5-4 with 7 seconds to go and a faceoff at centre ice.  A quick instruction for a faceoff play almost worked as the faceoff was slapped to a streaking Will Hull on the right side whoc was trying to work the puck to the net but ran out of time and space.  Final Score 5-4 for Lambeth.  What a thriller.

This marks the first game the Oilers have scored more than 1 goal against Lambeth in 4 meetings previously falling 5-1, 7-1, 7-1.

If the boys play as hard as they did tonight vs Lambeth the playoffs will prove to be exciting.  Knowing the boys have confidence to play they way they did and have success is exciting to see.  This is the efforts we have been asking and encouraging the kids for and we finally got it.  BRING IT EVERY GAME FROM HERE ON OUT BOYS!

(NOTE: NO ASSISTS WERE LISTED in WRITE UP DUE TO THE ABSENCE OF A GAME SHEET --WILL BE ADDED WHEN I GET ONE)

KENTO GUDZ was the hard hat winner for his stellar play.

Great Team effort Oilers.   Good Luck in MoTOWN where we meet Lambeth again!
