Novices Post 2 Victories on Day 1 of Silverstick
The Novice Oilers kicked off their Parkhill Regional Silverstick Tournament by posting two wins against Wallaceburg 4 to 0 and South Huron 3 to2.

In Game 1 vs Wallaceburg, Brady Busby-McEachen took off on a rush and split the D and went in and tucked home a low shot putting the Oilers up 1to0 on the first shift. The goal proved to be the game winner as Petrolia would dominate the play and didn't allow many scoring opportunities.  Pheonix Timmington put the Oilers up 2to0 on a nice play in the slot as he slipped one past the goalie. Assists went to Reid King and Reed Douglas. Jace McGrail scored the third and fourth goals on rushes from the point.  Noel Sanderson and Zach Wilson drew assists.  Kento Gudz made a few big saves in the third to post a shutout.  Timmington earned the team helmet and McGrail earned the Player of the Game Medal. Max Egan and Reid King played solid games and had lots of energy.

In Game two vs South Huron, the Oilers were not as sharp as earlier in the day and was a struggle to match the speed and skating ability of the solid Sabres squad. The boys worked hard and found a way to get the win. Power forward, Zach Wilson got the Oilers on the board with a hard shot from the left side. Noel Sanderson and Will Hull drew assists.  Miller Mailloux got rewarded for being in the slot with his stick on the ice and got just enough wood on it to trickle it across the line.  Will Hull and Shane Knight drew assists.
With the game tied at 2 and the game winding down and the legs getting tired, the Oilers hung tough and kept plugging away. Noel Sanderson was johnny on the spot in front of the net and after two whacks at the puck found an opening and put it home.  Oilers were up 3to2.  The final two minutes saw an Oilers penalty and the South Huron goalie pulled putting the Oilers down 6 on 4.  Stellar penalty killing by Sanderson, Hull, Douglas, and McEachen helped keep the puck out of Petrolia's end.  Final score 3 to 2.  Logan Crummy earned the team helmet and Will Hull was selected game mvp.  Zach Wilson and Nathan Perry were digging hard and getting pucks in deep all game.

Good luck boys, keep it going
