Mt. Brydges Cougars take a Bite Out of Oilers
The Mt. Brydges Cougars continued their winning ways over the Novice Oilers with a tight 3-2 win in the old Mt. Brydges barn on Saturday afternoon.  This marks the 4th straight win over the Oilers including two tournament games and two league games all with scores under three goals.

The Novice Oilers were again short handed by vacation and flu but came out and battled hard all game long.  The Oilers controlled the play most of the game and peppered the Cougars goalie with lots of shots but he was equal to the task making great saves on many difficult shots.

The Oilers got on the board on a nice rush bu defenseman Jace McGrail as he got his own rebound and found a wide open Noel Sanderson on the doorstep for a nice tap in goal.  Miller Mailloux also drew an assist on the play.
William Hull also scored for the Oilers on a nice rush from the point and wristed a hard shot past the outstretched glove hand.  Phoenix Timmington and Nathan Perry were credited with assists on the play.  With the Oilers up 2-1 in the third, a couple turnovers at the Oilers blueline resulted in a two goals being deposited past goalie Kento Gudz.  Our Achilles heal lately is not getting the puck out of our end when we get a chance and we are learning the hard way of what happens when we don't get the puck out.

On the whole, it was a great team effort and a good game to go into Silverstick knowing if the kids all come rested and ready to skate hard every shift and play for the full three periods we can put a scare into some of these teams we will be facing.
