Oilers Compete in Skills Competition at Blades of Steel Tournament
The Petrolia Novice Oilers were Represented well in the Annual Skills Competition in the Blades of Steel Novice Tournament on the Weekend.
All Players were allowed to participate in one event in the Skills competition. In the Fastest Forward Skater Competition; Will "Lightning Bolt" Hull, Miller "The Magnificent" Mailloux, Reid "Crazy Legs" King, Logan "Slippery Smooth" Crummy, Zach "Speedy Gonzales" Wilson all competed in the event with Zach "Speedy" Wilson and Will "Lightning Bolt" Hull making the final 4. Zach Wilson jetted to a 2nd place finish and Will Hull cruised in, in 3rd place with his tongue hanging out...begging for oxygen.
In the backwards skating competition; Jace "The Jet" McGrail, Brady "The Bruiser" Busby-McEachen, and Nathan "NATE DOGGER" Perry (Maxim "The Monster" Egan was ill) competed, with Jace "The Jet" McGrail advancing to the final pairing against Blenheim's #81 David Brown. McGrail cruised to victory winning the FASTEST BACKWARDS SKATER AWARD.
In the shootout competition, Kento "THE WALL" Gudz was our goalie and shooters included; Pheonix "The Intimidator" Timmington, Noel "Silky Smooth" Sanderson, Shane "The Sniper" Knight, and Reed "Ridiculous Moves" Douglas. Many fancy moves were demonstrated and some creativity shown but in the end Reed Douglas moved on to the final 4 with some of his almost famous ridiculous moves. Although Oiler players did not win, they showed some wicked moves that we look forward to seeing in upcoming games. Between the pipes, Kento "The Wall" Gudz was rock solid and claimed the TOP GOALIE AWARD in the COMPETITION beating out 5 other goalies.
Congratulations to all players! You represented yourself, your team and your town extremely well!
