Lambeth Delivers Lesson to Oilers
The Lambeth Novice Lancers skated into Petrolia on Saturday and delivered a lesson to the Oilers on how to skate and pass the puck en route to a 5 to 1 victory.
The game started out fast and the pace never slowed til the final buzzer. The bigger, faster, squad from Lambeth came in waves, then they pressed harder forcing the Oilers to step up to the challenge. After falling down 3 to 0, Nate Perry got the home squad on the board narrowing the gap to 3to1.
That would be as close as Petrolia would get as Lambeth scored twice more in period three to seal thegame 5to1.
This was a tough test for the Oilers and the first one in recent weeks. Lambeth has raised the bar for B centre teams and now the Oilers have the measuring stick to strive for. Lambeth is a top team in the Shamrock league and will be hard pressed to lose many games. Players know, they have to work hard, skate hard, and listen, listen, listen, every shift and every practice in order to improve . The mountain is in front of us and now the Oilers need to start climbing. We will face Lambeth numerous times this year, in league, Silverstick, both MoTown Cup Tournies and OMHA.
The Oilers like a challenge, and this will be great to watch as the young Oilers elevate and improve their games to compete with the top teams.
Team bonding night with Rock n Bowl was a big success and dry land training session after practice was a fun and tiring experience for all.
Next up: 630am practice Thursday, Saturday game vs Sting Minor Novices, and our Fundraising Silent Auction Saturday from 8 til 6pm at upper mezzanine at Petrolia Arena....come get your Christmas shopping started.
