Blenheim Downs Oilers
The Novice Rep Oilers were stopped in their tracks by a hot Blenheim Blades squad dominated by #91 Braedan Degleas.
Friday night the young Oilers squad faced off against league rivals the Blenheim Blades in Shamrock League Action. The game was a tight affair through the first half of the game, with Petrolia's star of the night W.D. Hullzy trading goals with Blenheim's Degleas. The Oilers had many chances to score and carried the play but a few inopportune turnovers and a few Oilers caught with their feet standing still were easy pickins for Blenheim's talented star who repeatedly chipped the puck by and raced around our awestruck defenders.
Chasing the backside of #91, the only hope we had at times was Kento Gudz coming up with a save, which he did time and time again.
In the end, the frustrating curfew issue that keeps raising its ugly head put an end to the game part way through the third period, handing the Oilers a 6-3 defeat. William Hull scored a hat-trick for the Oilers and was dangerous all night long.
The Oilers will now regroup and be ready to face Ridgetown in Petrolia on Saturday.
