Southwest 3 Midget Minor 2
In the boys first Silver Stick match up against last years Division winners
our Team played a complete game.
Southwest is a Rep team, and our sons played like they were too.
Matt Kuipers kept us in this game right to the end.
After Southwest opened the scoring the boys didn't let it get them down. They kept trying and with Hayden Gould forechecking he got the puck to Evan Freer who fed a beauty to Chris Docherty. And Chris deftly made the conversion going top shelf on their goalie. The play went back and forth with Matt making excellent saves in our end. Then in the third, Wyatt Card with his first Silver Stick goal put us ahead with a shot from the point that somehow found the back of the net. Southwest were able to tie it up and we went into overtime only to come out emptyhanded. Our midget Minor team has nothing to be ashamed about. John Card our trainer said this had to be our best game all year, and I agree with him. Maybe if we had our Captain Josh Myers things might have been different. Matt Kuipers was voted player of the game for his efforts. Maybe we can build for our game against Ridgetown on Saturday from this! Go get 'em Petrolia!
