Strathroy #3 Mooretown vs Petrolia
In the 1st game of the second day of play Mooretown Storm matched up against Petrolia.  Mooretown won each of their first 2 games getting 5 out of a possible 6 points as their win over North London was in overtime.

Mooretown was positioned to go onto the A final as only Lincoln had more points after two games.

The Oilers were looking forward to the opportunity to play better hockey against Mooretown as the game played 7 days prior was not a great game.

The first period saw the Storm come out of the gate quickly with a solid 5 minutes spent in Petrolia's end of the rink.  However, Petrolia weathered the storm and started the attack late in the period.  There was no scoring in the first period.  There was a flood of the ice between the 1st period and 2nd as in this tournament the flood occurred every two periods of play.

Petrolia came out in the second period and was playing very good hockey, matching the action hit for hit and scoring chance for scoring chance with Mooretown until a rather odd penalty was called.  Jaret Scarrow was cross checked to the ice and was cross checked twice more as the Mooretown took liberty to stay on top of Scarrow.  The play was blown dead for a penalty call, and then the ref decided to only call one penalty on Petrolia.  A similar type of penalty was called in Petrolia's first game against Lincoln by the same group of refs.

Petrolia in the process of an excellent penalty kill ended up on a two on two rush to defend.  The Storm forward took a shot that was well high over the net.  The puck took a strange bounce off the steel support and bounced back to the right side of the net.  Defender Ryan Bell defended the shot with his stick as the Mooretown player followed through, however the puck went directly sideways across the front of the goal and off fellow D Man Dylan Krall's skate and into the back of the net.  Petrolia played the remainder of the period with no further scoring.

The 3 period continued on the same thread.  As Petrolia was called time and again on penalties, Mooretown continued to find ways to increase their lead.  The game ended in a 4-0 loss for the Oilers who feel they let one slip away as they had some very good chances but on this day could not find the answer and get any goals.

The Oilers will play their final round robin game against Strathroy this evening in the first meeting between these two clubs.  It should prove to be an excellent game as winner goes on to play in a final and loser is done.
