Langton Tournament -Game #3
Game #3 saw the Oilers match up with Norwich.
The Oilers had lost their first two games of the round robin and needed to change the direction and the losing streak.
Norwich was one win over Langton and a 5-1 loss to Ridgetown prior to this final round robin game.
The Oilers played 6 games in tournament play (4 in Essex and 2 in Langton) prior to this game and had yet to score a goal.

The coaching staff asked the players to bring up the level of effort and the team responded.  The Oilers came out and played hard against a solid Norwich team.  The Oil found themselves down in the first period and killing another penalty as this group of referees were calling a very tight game when Paul Ferguson launched a shot from his own blueline that found the back of the net tying the game.  This dismantled the Norwich team and the 1st period ended in a 1-1 tie.

The second period has officially been awarded to the referee.  He did his best to take over the game calling many penalties on both clubs with the Oilers having 2 and 3 players in the box at one time.  During the second period there was over a minute of 3 on 3 play.  The straw that broke the Oilers back was another questionable call when #17 Ryan Bell was given a 4 minute penalty and a 10 minute misconduct for first laying a very solid hit on the Norwich forward and then hugging the player that was trying to cross check him.  Not to worry, Norwich took full advantage of the early christmas present and scored twice on the 4 minute penalty with the score at the end of the 2nd period 3-1.

The 3rd period the Oilers came to life and started to roll with a excellent goal by  Jaret Scarrow after a long power play and much patience with many passes by the Oilers.  The Oilers had the momentum in the final 5 minutes but could not find the equalizer.  The Oilers pulled netminder Noah Smith who had an outstanding game to send out the extra attacker but this resulting in an empty net goal for Norwich.   Norwich went onto the A final vs Ridgetown.

A much better effort against a nasty team from Norwich.
