Synergy - Solid Team Work
The PeeWee AE team played as a cohesive unit tonight, winning 2 -1 against a determined Ilderton team. It was ironic, that before the game, one of the kids asked what Synergy meant. Scott Wilkie did a great job explaining it to the kids in a manner they understood: it means 1 + 1 = more than 2.
Maybe all the players didn't hear this conversation in the changeroom, but it seemed that they all happened to "get it." Tonight's game was the best unified effort we have seen all season.
Both teams played a solid defensive game, which showed that our players were attentive in the changeroom...the coaching staff talked to the team about paying attention to the man off the puck, back checking and how everyone needs to contribute to a strong defensive game.
Everyone put forth a tremendous effort and showed the coaching staff that they are starting to make good hockey decisions - not just going where they are "supposed to go" but they are starting to read the play and know when the should think outside the box.
Having many penalties tonight gave our players another opportunity to show their character as well. They did this when they had to show more patience on the PK, had their regular lines juggled and did not get frustrated by being a man down on many occasions.
The coaching staff is very pleased with the progress and determination this group of boys continues to show.
Great job tonight boys. The coaching staff is very proud of the Respect, Ownership and Responsibility you continue to exhibit. Synergy was definitely the product of tonight's effort.
