  • Notes
Petrolia was mathematically eliminated from the tournament with the prior losses before this game.  Petrolia still had to show up and play the top ranked team in the tournament in Hamilton Huskies.

Hamilton is also a double A centre and this team is one of the most complete teams I have watched in recent years.  No weak links or chinks and an aggressive team that works very hard, is physical and is well coached.

So needless to say, Petrolia had its work cut out for it before the puck was even dropped.

Petrolia did come out and play decent hockey but it was evident early on that the Huskies were just a step faster and better at moving the puck.  Goaltender Noah Smith could easily be the top player in the tournament as he faced a lot of shots and did extremely well.  It was Noah's play that kept the score to only 4 goals against as the Huskies were relentless around the Oilers net.

The Oilers played a solid game and look forward to opening the season with an old rival in Mt. Brydges at home in Petrolia.

Once again, thanks for all the hard work and effort this weekend.
