Semi-final action
The Atom AE Oilers travelled to St. Marys last Wednesday and came away with a very important 4-3 win over the Rock to help advance them to the semi-finals in league playoffs.

The game provided nail biting, back and forth action, but the Oilers remained strong to pull off the win.

Brady Melton opened the scoring for the Oilers in the 1st period with a goal from Logan Harding but the Rock came back with 2 of their own in the 2nd to take the lead.  An unassisted goal by Ethan Marks late in the 2nd tied the game at 2 goals each.  The Rock went ahead again early in the 3rd, but another unassisted goal by Marks put the game back to a tie.  The Oilers didn't let up and played aggressively, getting chance after chance to take the game.  With one minute left, Rawson Donald scored the game winner assisted by Hunter Carron.  Wyatt Currie played an outstanding game for the Oilers in net.  The win advanced the Oilers to the league playoff semi-finals to face....the St. Marys Rock!!!

The Oilers headed back to St. Marys on Friday for the 1st game of the semi-finals but struggled to stay ahead of the Rock.  St. Marys took the lead this time with a goal in the 1st, but Donald put the Oilers into the game with a shot from the blue line assisted by Harding.  Into the 3rd period, Carron put the Oilers ahead with a beautiful goal from a pass by Harding, but the Rock were able to tie it up later in the 3rd.  Ryan Oliver kept the Oilers in the game with his work in net.

The 2nd game of the series was played on Saturday on home ice and the Oilers skated away with a 3-2 win over the Rock.  Harding came on strong and dominated the 1st period with back to back goals from Peyton Wright and Jayden Park to give the Oilers an early 2-0 lead over the Rock.  A goal from St. Marys late in the 1st put the score at 2-1 at the end of one.   The 2nd period proved to be scoreless for both teams, and Justin Oliver secured the game for the Oilers with an unassisted goal in the 3rd.  St. Marys came back to score one more, but it wasn't enough to get past the Oilers.  Ryan Oliver again played a great game in net for the Oilers.

Game 3 of the series is back in St. Marys this coming Wednesday.  Go Oilers!!!
