Congratulations Novice Rep!
The Petrolia Novice Reps won their first tournament of the season, taking the 2011 Motown Cup hockey tournament in Detroit last weekend. The reps won their opening game Friday afternoon beating Buffalo's Southtown Stars 9-1. Ryley Kelvin got the victory in net. Early Saturday morning the Oilers stepped on the ice before 8 am and improved to 2-0 shutting out the Lincoln Blades from Michigan 8-0. Shogo Gudz posted the shutout in net.  After waiting 9 hours to play their final round-robin game, the Novices improved to 3-0 and an automatic berth into the Championship game, posting another shutout. Ryley Kelvin was in net as his team beat the Allen Park Huskies 6-0.

Sunday's championship game was a re-match of the Oilers opening game, as they met the Southtown Stars from Buffalo in the final.  Backstopped by Shogo Gudz in net, the Oilers dominated from start to finish for a 3-0 win. Outstanding goaltending by the Stars netminder kept this re-match much closer.  Congratulations to Brooke Boelens for being named the games MVP!! The entire team played outstanding from the goalies, to the defense and forwards. The team missed the smiles and skill of their teammate Matt Mueller and look forward to having him back in the lineup as soon as he can!! Matt was apart of this tournament victory!!  Congratulations Novice Reps for the way you played and to the coaching staff for a well deserved victory.
