Kitchener Fallfest Tournament Champs
Submitted By Jody Rumbold on Wednesday, November 27, 2013
Last weekend the Midget B Girls traveled to Kitchener for the 20th Annual Fallfest Tournament. On Friday the girls played their first of two against Woolwich Wild and came out with a 1-0. Goal Scorer was T. Duquette. The score was not an indication of the way they played, out shooting the opponent 35 to 5. Then went on to play Georgina Golden Hawks, the girls came out flying and went on to beat them easily by a score 3-0. Goal Scorers were J.Callaghan. K.McPhail G.McGregor.

On Saturday we played local rival Mooretown, it was a rough hard fought battle, with plenty of bodies flying around .Whitney Simpson played strong in the cage earning another shutout. Goal Scorers M.Ferguson & J.Bolton. For the last round robin game the girls faced tournament host Kitchener Lady Rangers. Strong play led to a 3-0 victory with Petrolia advancing to the finals. Goal Scorers C.Sinclair,J.Bolton.T.Duquette.

In the Championship game , the girls drew the Woolwich Wild. After a slow start, the girls took control of the game and had plenty of scoring opportunities however were unable to find the back of the net. Wasn't until the 3rd period that the girls were able to cash in. Petrolia went on to win 1-0 and take home the hardware. Lone Goal Scorer was T.Duquette with W.(the Wall) Simpson getting her 5 shutout in a row.

Congratulations to the team on going undefeated and not allowing a goal all tournament. They had strong goaltending and did a great job defensively. Everyone played hard. This is girls 2nd straight tournament victory and have had only lost only one game so far this year. In recognition for their great start they were named CHOK's team of the week, congrats girls!!
