The Petrolia Oilers U9 MD-B team went head to head with the Wallaceburg Lakers at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena, Home of the Sarnia Sting on Friday, January 3rd, 2025.
With a delay to the start of the game and less than desirable ice conditions, Petrolia and Wallaceburg fought hard for the puck on Friday night. The players had to adapt to the larger ice surface and work together to move the puck up the ice. The Oilers controlled most of the play but the Lakers weren't giving up and caught Petrolia on their heels and earned a couple of break aways. The Oilers defence hustled back to help and the shots were stopped by their goalie. Despite many attempts, the Oilers were unable to score. Both teams skated hard and the game ended as a tie, 0-0.
After the game, the Oilers continued to bond during dinner at the Rinkside Restaurant followed by watching the Sarnia Sting take the win against the Brantford Bulldogs, 4-1. Lots of cheering, excitement and some appearances on the jumbotron were had.
What a fun filled evening!
