Welcome Preschool (Timbits) Hockey Parents
As the start of the season approaches I’m sure that everyone is excited. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind...
- Practices are Saturdays from 9:00am - 10:00am (Start Date is Sept. 29).
- Early in the season, parents are welcome on the ice (must be wearing a helmet and skates) in order to assist with getting their player comfortable.
- A parent meeting will be held in the upstairs mezzanine at the arena after practice week 2 (Oct. 6)Please put your child's name on the front of their helmet with some tape and a marker.
- A parent of each player is required to complete the ‘Respect in Sports- Parent Program’. (https://omhahockeyparent.respectgroupinc.com/ )
- Every family who has a child registered in the beginner program must submit one Volunteer Cheque in the amount of $500 post-dated for April 1. Your Team Parent Rep will collect the volunteer cheque at the beginning of the season. A cheque equals 6 hours of volunteer time. Simply stated, you volunteer 6 hours to PMHA and your cheque will be destroyed.
- By the 3rd or 4th week, we will break the players into 2 teams. Each Week the practice sessions will be broken into: Warm-up skating and exercises. (5-10 min)3-4 Stations that focus on skill development (simple drills and games) (20-40 min)Fun Portion (10-15 min) **This will progress to ½ ice games later in the season.
- Some events to think about: A mini game between periods at a sting game (dates???)Tournament (near the end of the season)
- Please consult the PMHA website (https://petroliaminorhockey.com ) for updated information.
- Thanks for all of the offers to help on and off the ice. The more help the better but only certain positions will get volunteer hours. I will make every effort to fill positions with people that need volunteer hours. I will finalize coaching and team positions after week 2.
- If you have any questions, please contact Lee Charlton ([email protected]) and he will be able to help you.
Looking Forward to a Great Season,
Petrolia Minor Hockey
