The Peewee girls came in with only one thing on there minds. That was to go in and play the best they could and give everything they could give. The competition was fierce and the girls challenged teams head on, We started with a hard fought win Friday. Saturday the girls didnt have a great game and didnt have their heads right in the game. Zurich came at us hard and beat us. This woke the girls up and Saturday night they all came out hard and took the win securing our spot into the semi finals. I could see Sunday morning when I entered the changeroom how bad these girls wanted this and it showed once the puck was dropped. The girls barely gave the glaciers a chance to even make a play. They went at them hard securing a 4 to 0 win. This took us into the finals against Amherstburg who hadnt lost a game in the tournament. This was a back and forth afair and both teams wanted it. Our girls stuck to the game plan and grinded out an amazing win 2 to 0. The score would have been much higher if not for the amazing saves by the Amherstburg goalie. Our goalie managed to have 3 shutouts in the last 3 games to help us win. Way to go Gracie (The Panther) Our defence played so strong and sound. Way to go Sam, Rebecca, Emma and Sydney. Our forwards played so strong and hard at both ends of the ice. Way to go Lauren, Vanessa, Chloe, Tessie, Rachel, Logan, Adrienne.
Unfortunately one of our girls (Rachel) suffered a high hit to the head and missed the last few games. Rachel suffered the hit while driving hard into the opposition end and colliding with another player.
Thanks girls for your hard work and determination that you showed this past weekend. You played the best hockey I have seen in a very long time.
