The Oilers regrouped and came out vs a determined St Marys team.  St Marys was very physical with their play on this evening as was the Oilers.  This was one of the best complete games of hockey of the entire season. The Oilers played extremely hard getting a ton of pressure and shots on the St Marys net but could not find an answer to the scoring riddle.  St Marys did manage a goal and had the lead going into the 3rd period.  The Oilers were the better team through the first 2 periods but no on the scoreboard.

The coaching staff told the players to keep working as goals will come from this sustained pressure and excellent play.  And goals did come in the 3rd period.Dawson Feenstra made a nice move just inside the offensive blueline and made a drop pass to Mitchel Crombeen.  Mitchel took a low hard shot that the netminder steered wide of the net.  Dawson following the shot got the rebound and banked the puck off the sprawling goalie to score.  Minutes later Ryan Bell grabbed a loose puck in front of his own net and decided to go for a skate.  He worked his way up the ice and making a nice move on the defenseman just inside the blueline gained the time to take a nice wristshot that fooled the goalie and gave Petrolia a 2-1 lead with just over 2 minutes remaining.  This should be enough for a victory but in these playoffs some wild finishes are happening.St Marys gets a power play and wins a draw in the Oilers end of the rink.  St Marys gets the shot towards the goal, it bounced off a skate and directly onto an open St Marys player in front of the net who snapped the puck home evening the score with less than 2 minutes to play.  The Oilers have seen this kind of finish just the night before.

The Oilers continue to press and apply pressure during the next minute that does not result in a goal but does create a power play situation.  The Oilers call a time out and put out a power play line.  The faceoff takes place in the St Marys end and the Oilers take control of the puck, cycling the puck down low, taking their time to eventually create the opening they are looking for.  Mitchel Crombeen makes a pass onto Alex Mayhead's forehand.  Alex takes a low shot that results in a rebound at the side of the net where Jarett Scarrow is parked and Jarett scores with 15 seconds to play.

The Oilers dump the puck on the ensuing puck drop and the game ends with Petrolia beating St Marys 2 games in a row in the playoffs.

This win puts them through to the next round of the playoffs, but who their opponent will be is not clear until following the Thamesford matchup Wednessday night.
