Petrolia came out in full force in the 1st period of this game and took to the offensive vs the visiting Thamesford Attack.  Petrolia scored twice in the opening period to lead 2-0 going into the second. The second period saw Petrolia start strong scoring a 3rd goal but that was a turning point in this game.  Petrolia took their feet off the gas pedal and Thamesford sensed the opportunity and came storming back, dominating the remainder of the second period and scoring 3 times to tie the game going into the break.

Petrolia regrouped and came out of the break with a renewed vigor and determination.  They outworked the visiting Attack and finally were rewarded mid way through the period.  This game saw many, many penalties, with many of those being very questionable.  This did have a bearing on the game and the end result.  The Oilers took a strategy to ice the puck and take time off the clock with about 4 minutes to go.  This strategy was working as time was being taken off with few true scoring chances until a screen shot beat betminder Matt Kuipers.  With the score 4-4 with 2 minutes remaining the penalties started to pile up.  There was a 4 on 3 situation with Petrolia pressing to get the go ahead goal.  Thamesford chipped the puck down the ice with a race between the Attack player and defenseman Ryan Bell.  Ryan caught the Attack player but the Attack player was able to get the shot off and beat Matt on the blocker side.  This put the Attack ahead 5-4 with 26 seconds.Petrolia pulled their goalie to gain the extra attacker and had a 5 on 3 as they were also serving a penalty.  The Attack had 3 penalties and one player was mistakenly allowed out of the box following his penalty expiring, although he should have been allowed out on the next stoppage of play.  This was important as the ref did not provide instruction to the door keepers and Thamesford had an extra player on the ice for the remainder of the game when it should have been 5 on 3.Petrolia received the loss after playing and dominating long stretches of this game.  This result would prove to have a large impact on the final standings of this round robin.

Petrolia takes the ice against St Marys the following night in St Marys.
