The Oilers started their OMHA playoff vs a well know opponent in the Mooretown Storm.  This is a 6 point series with the Oilers having home ice advantage.Mooretown started the scoring in the first period after a turnover on a long pass.  The Oilers were outplaying the Storm up to that point and getting many scoring chances.

The OMHA playdown games are longer as there are 3 15 minute stop time periods with a flood between 2nd and 3rd periods and no curfew.

The Oilers came roaring back scoring within the same minute Mooretown had scored.  The Oilers kept the pedal to the medal and scored 3 more times in the opening frame.

It became apparent that the 2 tournaments during the holiday break helped the Oilers as they had their skating legs but also they were husseling to the puck and making good decision on where to go to with the puck.  The Oilers dominated this game from start to finish as Mooretown could not match the Oilers team speed and determination on this night.

The Oilers added 2 goals in both the 2nd and 3rd period and had many scoring chances.  Scoring was well distributed with 6 Oilers getting goals and 5 Oilers getting multi point nights.  Spencer Burden was the leading scorer this evening as he had 3 goals and an assist.  This was a team effort.  Keep up the work as it takes another 2 wins to get to the next round and the next opponent will be Dorchester or Strathroy.

The Oilers finish their regular season play in the Shamrock league this Sunday as they host the Thamesford Attack.  The Oilers can clinch the 6th spot in the league with a win.  Currently they lead Thamesford by one point in the standings and trail St. Thomas by 2 points.Keep up the good work guys.

This is the time of year all that work can come together.
