Schedule & Results, Bantam AE, U15, 2011-2012 (Petrolia Minor Hockey)

This was a early morning tilt with the puck drop @ 7:30 am.  The Oilers did not come out with the same intensity as the day before and it cost them with a goal against in the first 2 minutes.  A couple minutes later saw one of the most bizzare calls in ref history.   A solid body check was first given a 2 minute boarding call on what looked to be a clean hard hit, the head coach on the Fusion went bizzerk on the ref and then proceed to slowly make his way onto the ice to attend the injured player.  Both actions by the Fusion coach are questionable ones.  However the ref decided to change the call on Alex Mayhead and now make the penalty a 5 minute major.  Alex as ejected from the game, and Petrolia was forced to take a player from the ice to serve the 5 minute major.  Brayden Hackett served the major.  The Oilers did not allow this fiasco to get them down, but in turn killed the penalty off and took the momentum of the game for the remaining regulation time.  A large number of excellent scoring chances were created by the Oilers in the game.  The Fusion scored the second goal with around 5 minutes to go in the 3rd period on a play goaltender Matt Kuipers would love to have back.
This was a excellent effort by the entire team as the team battled a large physical team and some questionable officiating.
