Petrolia Silverstick Summary
Game 1: Petrolia plays Mt. Brydges Cougars, who had beaten the Oilers 4-2 in November. The Oilers are able to easily handle the Cougars by a score of 5-1. Scoring for Petrolia was Trent Jardine with 3 goals, while Curtis Helps and Ian Wheatley each scored once. Assists by Jaret Scarrow (2), Jack Hackett (1) and Josh Myers (1).
Game 2: Petrolia plays arch rival Mooretown Flags and the Oilers lose a close one by a score of 3-2. Scoring for Petrolia were Curtis Helps and Hayden Gould with helpers from Jack Hackett, Josh Myers, Cade Robbins and Nick Friesen. Cody Ewing played well in goal but took the loss.



Game 3: With double knock-out format, Petrolia can’t lose another game. The Oilers face the Ingersoll Express and shut them out 3-0. Goals for the Oilers were scored by Hayden Gould, with 2, and Curtis Helps. Assists went to Josh Myers, Jack Hackett, Tyler Clarke, Jaret Scarrow and Trent Jardine. Noah Smith got the shutout for the Oilers.
Game 4: Once again, the Oilers face the Cougars from Mt. Brydges and hand the Cougars another resounding defeat by a score of 5-0. Scoring this time for the Oilers were Shane Boelens, Curtis Helps, Sam Jacques, Cade Robbins and Hayden Gould. Helpers went to Jack Hackett (2), Josh Myers and Curtis Helps. Goal-tender Noah Smith kept the opposing team off the score-sheet for the second game in a row.
Game 5: Petrolia faces a new foe in the Penetang Flames and the Oilers need overtime to finish off the Flames 5-4. Jack Hackett lit the lamp 3 times, including the OT winner, while single markers went to Hayden Gould and Tie Maniuk.  Assists were given to Curtis Helps and Trent Jardine.
Game 6: The Oilers match up against Mooretown in the final, but have to beat the Flags twice to win the tournament. In front of a packed house at the Greenwood Rec Centre, Petrolia squeaked out a 3-2 win with Hackett scoring the winner with 30 seconds to go in the third period. Other scorers for Petrolia were Trent Jardine, on an excellent feed from Sam Jacques, and Hayden Gould, with helpers from Jardine and Scarrow. Brandon Smith, Cade Robbins, Tyler Clarke, Shane Boelens and Sam Jacques were solid on the blue-line all game for Petrolia.
Game 7: In a re-match of game 6, the Oilers play the Flags for the Silverstick banner. With a big, energetic crowd watching, the Oilers and Flags are tied at 1 after regulation time, with Helps scoring for Petrolia after a nice pass from Myers. The line led by Ryan MacAlpine did a great job keeping the Flags off the score-sheet. Noah Smith played a solid game for the Oilers, keeping them in the game when the Flags applied pressure in the third period. In  overtime, the hero was once again Jack Hackett as he scored unassisted on a nice deke 2 1/2 minutes into overtime. The home town crowd erupted with applause as the Oilers won their own Regional Silverstick. Both Mooretown and Petrolia now move on to International Silverstick in Forest January 8-10.
