OILERS DOWN PREDATORS

The Atom Rep Oilers had a busy Thanksgiving Weekend with games Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Evening.

The boys got the weekend started Saturday afternoon at home with a tight match against the Lambton Shores Predators.  The Oilers came out flat to start to game giving up a goal in the first minute of the game.

There just didn’t seem to be a lot of energy or game in the Oilers during the first period until Tyler McGrail tied the game with 3:54 left in the first. The goal was assisted by Reed Douglas.

The Oilers kept the Preds off the score sheet during the second period despite having to kill off 2 minor penalties. The Oilers took the lead late in the frame with a goal by Seth Sutherland assisted by Miller Mailloux and Shane Knight. The Oilers held the lead until the halfway mark of the third when the Preds come back to tie the game at 2 apiece. As the game was winding down it looked as though the Oilers were going to have to settle for a tie despite out shooting the Preds 23 to 12.

Luckily for the Oilers, their Captain Will Hull was able to find a way to beat the Preds goalie with 1:16 left in the game. The game winner was assisted by Craig Richardson and Maxim Egan.

Goalie Kento Gudz stood tall in goal during the Oiler victory!

The boys knew that they didn’t play to their potential and felt lucky to leave with the W.
