Atom AE Oilers "Roll" into Detroit
Our Atom AE boys crossed over the border and headed down to Detroit this past weekend for a little Motown Cup action.
Always a favourite of the boys this tournament showcases both USA and Canadian talent together in a friendly but competitive and fun atmosphere.

Friday nights game had our boys face a local team from Garden City. Petrolia scoring first and a solid effort in net from Wyatt Currie, final score 9-2.
Saturday afternoons game was a showcase of Lambton County Atom hockey with the Oliers facing the Sarnia Atom MD Majors but with very little heart in the game a much more agressive Sarnia team capitalized with the win.
Saturday night brought on another game with a local Livonia team but our boys learned from there Sarnia counterparts how to play tough and fast. Passing was a highlight of the game showing everyone our kids are skilled and fully capable of a win.

Early Sunday morning in the Semifinals Petrolia faced off against a Flamborough B team with an exciting 4-3 win. Petrolia struck first but a resilient Flamborough team fought back to tie the game sending it into overtime. With 7 seconds into overtime, the game winner was scored by Keenan Reidhead to send the Oilers into the finals against Sarnia. Ryan Oliver played with grit to post a huge win for the AE Oliers.

Game 2 of the plank road series would be a dynamite game with our kids scoring first, Sarnia would score again but Wyatt Currie would stop multiple attacks from an overwhelming Sarnia forcheck, Sarnia would eventually use there 15 skater bench to its full advantage to wear out an already short Oiler bench for the win.
A fantastic time and an excellent showcase of Petrolia talent were highlights to the weekend.
