LaSalle 4 - Petrolia 2
In the Midget AE final LaSalle Sabres met up with Petrolia Oilers for their second game in as many nights against each other.
Petrolia won the first meeting that was a high spirited affair with penalty after penalty. This game was officiated much differently until the 3rd period with little being blown down and then everything possible and then some becoming an infraction. These two teams are very evenly matched.
Petrolia came out strong in the 1st period and carried much of the play getting many chances but it was LaSalle who broke the scoring open. Petrolia did manage to tie the match before the end of the first after a lot of hard work.
In the second period LaSalle took the lead again but Petrolia responded quickly to even the score again. Both teams worked hard but LaSalle scored the go ahead and eventual game winner on a long screen shot that fooled Joey Friesen. Joey played a great game again as Cody Ewing also played well this tournament.
The tank was empty and with killing penalty after penalty Petrolia just could not find a way to even the score before the Sabres took and extended the lead to 4-2 which was the final score.
Great work guys. I know you wanted a different result than the loss in the finals but I could see some positive strides during these 4 games.
The Oilers are back in regular season action vs Mooretown in Petrolia next Sunday.
