Silverstick Champions!
The Atom Rep boys showed amazing heart and determination in the 2013 Silverstick Tourney.
With a win in the first game the boys were a little pumped up to say the least. However our second game we came out flat and ended up down a couple of goals. The boys seemed to have almost given up, but showed their oiler colours and came back to tie it up and even go ahead a goal against Ingersol. The game ended in a tie, great comeback.
Our next game against Blenhiem in the afternoon matinee the boys came out with a point to prove. In the first couple of minutes they posted a couple of quick goals and never looked back knocking in 11.
This gets us to the Semis against the Alymer Flames who were big and strong. We used our speed and got on the board to stay ahead for most of the game to eventually post the big win.
Down to the finals we go and we get to see the Express again. The boys had a point to prove after a bad start the previous game, which ended in a tie. From puck drop the oilers came out using speed and most of all heart. The game was an amazing display of the skill and determination from these boys. These boys all showed what they can accomplish when the set their sights on a goal. It paid off well with the big win to take Silverstick home for the Atoms for the first time since 1994.
Every player on the team chipped in the whole weekend leading us to this amazing finish. I am sure that I can speak for all the coaching staff and parents that the Men of the Atom Rep team have made us all proud to call them our boys. Every one of the boys has a special bond and I think that is how they pulled off the Championship.
I would like to thank all parents and players for showing the coaching staff the dedication and heart, to pull this great weekend off.
