Atom Rep's Win Motown Cup!
Atom reps travelled to Detroit to play in the Motown Cup over the weekend. First up for the P-town squad was St. Catherines, which we beat 6-4.  A very strong game for the line of Oliver, Kuchta and Nesbit.  All three scored a goal and had 2 assists.  Other markers went to Baron, Mueller and Fryfogle.  Assists went to Jarvis, Mueller, Gibson and Fryfogle. A strong game between the pipes for Kenny Mullins.

Next up was the Fort Wayne Komets.  The reps skated to a 3-3 tie.  A strong game this time by the line of Muller, Hoven and Fryfogle.  Scoring for the reps were Fryfogle with 2 and Jarvis with a single.  Assists to Jarvis, Hoven, Gibson 2 and Baron.  Our "D" of Baron, Taylor, Hudson, King and Turnbull stood strong and a stellar performance between the pipes for Cole Irwin.

Our night game was against the London Bandits.  The line of Jarvis, Gibson and McAuley came to play.  One of the best games this line has played all year.  They controlled the play every time on the ice.  The line was awarded with their hard work as McAuley scored a beauty on a break away. Gibson had a goal and an assist along with Jarvis's 3 apples. The highlight of the game however was after London scored to tie it up. The player who scored did an elaborate celebration past our bench. Our players weren't to happy and  responded with Oliver scoring one of the nicest goals, if not the nicest goal of the year to silence there bench and there fans!  We followed it up with 2 more.  Also scoring for the reps were Kuchta and Fryfogle. Assists going to Fryfogle, Oliver and Kuchta. This game was a must win and win we did!  A total team effort.  Our D again played awesome.

Off to the finals we go, to play Fort Wayne again.  Before the game even started both sides were chanting long and hard.  Fort Wayne got the old USA chant rocking, as we hit the ice.  Fort Wayne opened the scoring in the first, and Nesbit evened it up at 1 in the second with a nice walk out from the corner and the old "Billy Buckner" shot through the 5 hole.  Heading into the third was tight, as the reps played 8 of a 12 minute period shorthanded. The defensive crew of Baron, Hudson, Turnbull and King played another spectacular game, with many defensive gems.  We weathered the storm on penalties and headed to OT.  4 on 4 hockey! And wouldn't you know it right off the faceoff we were back in the box. A minute later Fort Wayne takes a hard penalty on the Z man to even things up and it's 3 on 3 hockey. Thirty seconds later Z man makes a great defensive play and heads the other way along with Gibby on 2 on 1.  Z makes the move, puts it on net and Gibby is on the doorstep to put it in the yawning cage!!!! Our tender Cole Irwin stood on his head and was rewarded with tournament MVP!

We played as team and the kids were rewarded.  The coaches are proud of the effort by everyone!  Great job guys!!!!
