Silver for Senior Women Oilers!
Submitted By cboyd on Monday, March 25, 2013
Petrolia Oilers Senior Women's attended the OWHA Provincials Tournament this weekend in Etobicoke with 22 teams in Senior B division. The Oilers were undefeated in round robin play beating Lucknow Legends 4-2, Stone Mills Tamworth 2-0, and West Northumberland 3-2.
This put Petrolia in 1st place in their division getting a bye to the quarter finals. The Oilers played against Mt. Brydges Cougars and came out with an easy win of 6-2. Sunday morning semi-finals, Petrolia came up against Lucknow Legends, again, winning 2-1 for the excitement to play in the championship game.

Petrolia played head to head against the very tough team of London Devillette Blues. The play and scoring was back and forth with both teams scoring in the first period and second period. London scored to go ahead with four minutes left in the game. Petrolia fought back hard in the final minutes, pulling the goalie with a minute and half left, hitting the goal post and mad scrambles in front of the net to no avail. The score ended 3-2, with Petrolia coming home with a Silver Medal! We are sponsored by Lia Sophia-Tracy McDonald.
