Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, Ontario Hockey Federation, City of Sarnia and Municipality of Lambton Shores, announced Friday that Sarnia, Ont., will host the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge from Nov. 2-8, 2014. It will mark the seventh time in the 29-year history of the event that it will be held in Ontario.

Information and Documents:

  • WU17 Event Schedule – 3 Canadian Teams and Team USA, Slovak, Finland, Russia, Sweden
  • General Volunteer Forms for all venues – We will need approx. 200 volunteers
  • Ticket Package Fundraiser – For every ticket package sold by an association or minor hockey team they will receive $25
  • Ticket Package Poster – As per Hockey Canada - Individual tickets for the RBC and Lambton Shores will not go on sale until closer to the event – that’s if we still have any – The only way to guarantee a seat at the gold medal game is to buy a ticket package
  • Tickets for Sarnia, Watford and Greenwood Arena will be going on sale soon, we will be working with the local communities in those centres and the hockey associations to sell those tickets. – a portion of the ticket sales will go back to the minor hockey association in those centres.
  • And last but certainly not least, the official logo of the event.

The legacy (all proceeds) from the Sarnia-Lambton World Under 17 event will be left in our communities and go back into our local facilities and hockey associations in Lambton County.

The host committee has been given a very short time to put on this event, however, Hockey Canada and our host committee knows that our communities are up for this endeavor. The 2014 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge host committee, is committed and is confident it will deliver a 1st class event.

We have dedicated volunteers, outstanding facilities, however most importantly we need the support of our local Hockey Associations.

We have demonstrated our commitment to host the 2014 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge and truly believe we have the passion, strength and experience needed to host a 1st class event that will leave a lasting legacy and create memories that will last a life time.

It is the support from individuals such as yourself, the local minor hockey associations, our communities and local businesses that will truly make this the best WU17 event Hockey Canada has ever seen!! Let’s show them our true spirit.
